Family honors Hillsborough teen killed in DUI crash with scholarship for future UF medical students
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The parents of a Hillsborough County teenager killed in a suspected DUI crash said their daughter didn’t just have plans for the future, she was already working toward them.
“A bright smile,” they said, is how many remember 16-year-old Lexi Ringo.
Her father describes her as the “bright light of the family,” someone who wanted to heal people as a doctor.
Lexi was riding in the car with her mother the day after Christmas when investigators said a suspected drunk driver ran a stop sign and slammed into their vehicle. Her mother survived the crash, but Lexi did not.
